The beauty of our sacred work, regardless what it is... When we contribute to our world from our true essence, everything we do is priceless, more than we can imagine... It's different for each of us, and it's all invaluable. The vulture... I know that many cringe at the sight or thought of this raptor, associating it with death and less than appealing eating habits. However, for many Native American tribes, this large bird is called a "peace eagle". They refer to it as a peace … [Read more...]

Fascinatingly rare and 'weird' wonders of our world... While admiring multiple varieties of mushrooms in a particular trail, I was amazed to discover that an entire patch of the bordering forest was sheltering the most unusal flowers I have ever seen or heard of yet - at first glance they looked like mushrooms (since I saw the white ones first). Known as the "ghost plant" or "Indian pipe", it has no need for light to grow - it has no chlorophyll. It behaves like a mushroom, yet it's a … [Read more...]

The JOY of beauty and rare encounters... Walking in a trail and feeling loving appreciation for all the beauty that surrounds me, I came upon a cluster of three "blue flags", an uncommon type of gorgeous wild iris in this area. They look so regal at the edge of the woods. What a gift to encounter such rarities. We never know what beauty awaits our discovery... ♥ With love and wonder-filled spirit, … [Read more...]

Nature abounds with miracles of all forms (and some are formless!)... All we need to do is look around us, and miracles surround us! ... I'm featuring a photo I took of a beautiful monarch butterfly within its chrysalis. It's the mature stage which is why we can see the butterfly, perfectly formed, through its casing that is now clear instead of opaque green. Soon it will emerge and fly as a graceful butterfly!... ♥   With love and wonder-filled spirit, … [Read more...]

Dance as an expression of loving appreciation... I love to dance barefeet outdoors in Nature... every step a kiss and every movement an act, of love and gratitude to Mother Earth, the Divine and All... As I worked on my book, I suddenly felt inspired to take a break and dance in the sunshine and wind, surrounded by the prairie and trees... I dance to my favourite music on my ipod or simply dance to the rythms of Nature and Mother Earth's heart beat... As I started dancing on this … [Read more...]

Metamorphosis... common for insects, it also allows us to shed what no longer serves us to become who we truly are... Most insects undergo several types of metamorphosis as they evolve through the stages of growth to reach adulthood. I've always marvelled at every type of metamorphosis, from simple (the insect simply sheds its outgrown skins as it grows larger and larger - such as beetles) to complete (the insect completely changes forms throughout its growth stage - such as … [Read more...]

Heart desires manifest in the most amazing ways!... Yesterday evening as I worked on my book outside on the open air deck, one of my dear brothers visiting out of province with his family gifted me a little feather that he found on the ground. Everyone who knows me well knows how special feathers are to me. ... I stayed out late since it was hot and humid (my kind of weather!) and also extremely windy (so no mosquitoes!). As I gathered my things to go indoors, the wind suddenly gusted and … [Read more...]

Moths, although less conspicuous than their diurnal cousins, display intricate patterns, colours, shapes and humming flutters in the night... When the sun sets and the butterflies rest, moths take over their  role as pollinators. They don't receive as much attention as the colourful, more obvious butterflies, but they can rival them with their unique charms. Many have wings that look like leaves and some wings are as large as a hand in wingspan. They also often look neutral in colour but … [Read more...]

Hidden opportunities to experience more of our world's glorious wonders... I was woken up at 5am this morning by a buzzing mosquito,  which isn't the greatest way to wake up!... BUT... when I saw the time, I looked outside at the lake and the sunrise was beckoning me... Mist was billowing over the mirror surface of Royal Lake and the sun was radiant with fire colours... My entire family reunited from out of province to celebrate our mom's milestone birthday, and spending a few … [Read more...]
