How I love owls!… a beautiful Spirit connection…
The property where I lived for the past two years was truly a Divine gift. I loved hearing them hoo-hoo-ing at dusk or during the night near the house I rented…
Now on the Big Island of Hawai’i, I was delighted to find out that there is one endemic species of owl here – the Pueo. I had a heart desire to see one, if possible…
Three days ago during a forest hike, I found a feather on my path that, having seen owl feathers, made me sense immediately that it might be of the Pueo. What a treasure!… The next day, I woke up very early morning and felt the need to go for a long walk on the road that winds uphill and downhill on Mauna Loa, surrounded by nature – quite a challenging hour yet so exhilarating! At one point, I unexpectedly saw the word “PUEO” written in bold letters on a mailbox by the road – it felt like a confirming “cosmic wink”. Then late yesterday evening, after a glorious walk along the sacred Honaunau shore and watching the sun set with soul family, we suddenly encountered a low flying Pueo above the highway, hovering momentarily as we passed underneath with the vehicle, letting me see it so clearly! It was so beautiful and graceful! I was in awe…
I discovered that the Pueo is considered by the Hawaiian culture to be an ‘aumakua (ancestor spirit). It feels so sacred to have encountered it for three consecutive days in various forms, in very different locations. I feel blessed.. ♥
