While our greatest allies are our own sacred hearts, there’s something so special about experiencing alliances with others from a place of love, with a shared vision.
As human beings, we have an ancient alliance with the beings of Nature from all kingdoms. These beings can choose to work with us from a spirit level at different times in our life and are invaluable allies in all areas of life.
I’ve been aware of my own Spirit Guides for years, and some have entered my life in more dramatic ways than others. One of these, Bald Eagle, continues to impact my life in such divinely powerful ways as I walk the path of the heart, I felt inspired to share our sacred story with you so that it may provide inspiration and empowerment for you in your own life.
The following is an excerpt from my book Sacred Possibilities (chapter 7 – which is dedicated to the power of trust in life and self).
“… Having an awareness of all the different ways that we are supported by Spirit enables us to receive these empowering gifts instead of missing out. All animals, plants, and environments have different teachings, energies, and messages for us at different times. The heart connections we cultivate with each other have ripple effects. The more sacred relationships we have, the more everyone benefits.
When a particular animal becomes a messenger or desires to work with you as a teacher, healer or guide, it appears in unusual ways or three times within a short period of time. Some become prominent spirit guides such as power animals and can work with you your whole life; some briefly show up at specific times during your journey.
Many published resources can advise what these particular animals bring to you, if you don’t intuitively know or you desire more information. They’re all beautiful allies to have, no matter what their forms are. Whether they’re a small insect or a large predator, it’s wise to acknowledge them and to not underestimate their power.
In October of 2011, a new teacher and power animal was assigned to me; he showed up in a way I couldn’t miss. I was driving into the city one day, when a majestic bald eagle suddenly flew across the highway, just a few feet ahead of my vehicle at windshield height, ensuring that I saw it—in full detail! The road was surrounded by wide-open fields and sky, but it chose to appear to me this way. I was stunned and so relieved I hadn’t hit it with my vehicle. Then, as I was driving within the city, a truck passed me, and I noticed that its license plate had a bald eagle on it. I had never seen one like it before. Later, on my way back home, a large moving truck appeared in the lane beside me at a red light, and (of course)—it had a large perched bald eagle painted on its box.
Intuitively I sensed that Bald Eagle desired to work with me, but I couldn’t believe that he had chosen me! I let my mind fill me with doubts instead, so I wouldn’t have to acknowledge and accept him. This teacher brought tremendous responsibility and discipline for the spiritual path. I decided to respectfully dismiss these three encounters, thinking that Bald Eagle would leave.
I should have known better.
Bald Eagle was on a mission and very persistent. For the following three months, he showed up in some way or other almost every day! He was always in my awareness. I finally surrendered to the fact that he wasn’t leaving me and I needed to acknowledge that I was ready for this teacher, whether I felt it or not (for he obviously felt I was).
Just to make absolutely sure, however, I made a request. On the last day of the year, at the dawn of 2012, I asked Bald Eagle to show me a clear sign that day to confirm that he was indeed a new teacher and power animal for me. I made a promise that if I received this sign, I would honour him with a ceremony.
On my way to the city for a New Year’s Eve celebration, as I drove near downtown, I suddenly noticed a large semi truck drive past me in the lane to my left , which gave me an excellent view of the side of the truck. I was completely astonished when I saw that, stretched over the entire length of its long trailer box, it had the image of a giant, soaring bald eagle, its extended wings spanning from one end of the box to the other and its eyes gazing at me! I had never seen such an impressive image on a trailer box! It was spectacular and undeniably the sign I had requested. It was also accompanied with a strong inner “knowing”. I thanked and honoured Bald Eagle, as promised.
I’ve learned so much from this teacher and ally since then and continue to do so. I also recognized Spirit’s wisdom for the impeccable timing of Bald Eagle’s arrival in my life—it’s been a constant reminder of my sacred path. I greatly appreciate how he persisted after first showing up in my life in such a dramatic way.
Over the years I’ve learned that, whether we consciously know we’re ready for the next “level” of our personal growth or not, Spirit always knows and provides us with exactly what we need to further become who we’re meant to be. Regardless of what we receive to continue evolving (even situations that seem unfavourable) , we can make the most of it when we trust with a greater awareness. …”
Our relationship continues to evolve in such divine and unexpected ways. In May (2015) when my heart yearned to resume dedicating time to volunteer work, for an organization that was perfectly aligned with my path, Bald Eagle guided me on a journey that led straight to BirdTLC. I had no idea it existed here in Anchorage, AK. I also had no idea how much of a mutual gift (beyond wow!) becoming a volunteer for this wonderful organization for wild birds, would be for everyone involved (the first image of the Bald Eagle used in this post is from the BirdTLC website).
The magick continues in ways I couldn’t have imagined…
I feel truly blessed and honoured by the presence of Bald Eagle and the countless other Spirit Guides who enrich my life every day. They are part of my “Sacred Circle”.
