Life is a lot like that.
We receive invitations through opportunities, inspirations and heart desires, to create, experience or acquire something. And we end up on a journey, like nothing we could have imagined – just to “get there”! Life’s and our own divinity are so wise and clever.
It’s always so much more than the “destination”.
These invitations are about the journeys that they entice us to embark on. In doing so, we experience more of life, more of who we are, and discover what we’re actually capable of. We learn things about life and ourselves that only personal experience can offer.
When we accept and honour these invitations with a wholehearted yes… we’re never the same at the end of the journey, as when we started out. It brilliantly stretches us beyond what we’re familiar with, so that our personal truth and wisdom keeps expanding.
Yesterday afternoon Michael asked me innocently “How would you like to go for a little walk with me?”. I’m always “game” for experiencing more of our glorious Mother Earth’s natural landscapes and being in Nature, so I accepted his sudden inspiration.
Well… we ended up at the peak of “Little O’Malley” near Anchorage (Alaska)! Wow… an epic “little walk”! At times I felt like I was in a scene of The Lord Of The Rings – the landscape of the ridges and surrounding view was so awe-inspiring and beautiful! This journey was at times an easy walk through winding trails in the valley’s meadows.
At other times it was about carefully balancing steps on steep uphill and downhill inclines.
It also required hiking up and down rocky boulders at the top, up to the peak.
Sometimes the trail was clearly visible, sometimes it divided into multiples, and at times we couldn’t see a trail and had to go wherever we felt it was best to walk.
It required that we honour our individual paces and personal levels of endurance.
There were many instances where we could have decided we’d gone far enough and turned around, not knowing how long it would take us to reach that peak… but we kept going on instead.
Once we reached the peak at 3258 feet of evlevation, the view simply left me in absolute awe. I felt exhilarated for reaching that peak!
Not only that, but I was so surprised to hear wolves howl from far in the valley below at that moment that I reached the peak! And just as we decided to start our journey back down, I found a pure white feather on my path (despite the wind)! This felt so significant to me, Wolf being my oldest power animal and the feather being a very special soul sign throughout my life. Their divinely timed presence felt like such a blessing.
It also felt like such a perfect metaphor for life.
Whenever we embark on different journeys and encounter parts that feel more uphill and challenging with unknowns, it’s our courageous spirits that keep us going.
We remember why we chose to embark on that particular journey and that focus renews our determination to succeed. When we do, it feels that much more significant because we prevailed.
We’re also reminded along the way that we’re never alone – we have so much support in countless ways.
It’s also ok to take detours, to pause and rest, or even to take a step back so we can look at it from a different perspective.
At times all we have is our inner guidance and the knowing that we have support beyond what we can perceive.
Each one of us gets to choose every day how we desire to experience our own paths. Every decision counts more than we can imagine.
What decision could you make today, that would embark you on a journey that your heart beckons you to take?
