The endless possibilities for transformation of experiences, on all levels!…
When I was on the island of Oahu back in 1999 for 2 weeks, I was introduced to a species of Plumeria in a flower lei, whose blossoms were mostly white with yellow accents. Its perfume was so strong, it overwhelmed me. After that experience I decided I didn’t like Plumeria that much – I found it beautiful but from a distance (because I remembered that powerful scent).
Fast forward to 2013 on the Big Island of Hawai’i and I avoided Plumeria because of my previous experience. Then I discovered a different species that grows quite abundantly in this area where I’m staying and have my daily sunrise hike. Its blossom colours remind me of a sunset… and… oh my goodness does it EVER smell divine (to me anyway)!… a fruity-sweet scent that intoxicates my senses in such a blissful way!… When I take breaks on my hike to drink water, I purposely stop beside one of those trees to inhale the flowers’ sweet aroma! I never would have thought that I could have such opposite experiences with flowers of the same family.
I also had a similar experience with the papaya fruit. I first had it in Costa Rica, fresh off the trees, back in the year 2000. For some reason, I couldn’t even stand the smell of it! Over the years I’ve tried it again and again, but just couldn’t enjoy its smell or taste. I finally considered it a “write off”. THEN… my dear Soul Sis Eva here on the island of Hawai’i, knowing my aversion to it, introduced me to the combination of papaya with fresh lime juice squeezed on it, in one last attempt to see if I could love this pretty fruit… and wow! Unbelievably, I not only loved it, I actually crave it now!… I never would have imagined…
Lesson learned… I’m delighted to say that there’s ALWAYS possibility for transformation, regardless what it is!… ♥
