Choice…

We always have the ability to choose every single moment. It’s easy to fall into unconscious patterns of choice… However, with awareness, we have the power to change life as we know it…

A very simple example is how we react to our external world. When we choose a different reaction than what automatically comes up from conditioning, we suddenly change a pattern and THAT is a very powerful thing!…

This can be applied to all situations in everyday life.

Just one little example of this has to do with the photo of a beautiful spider web. I woke up one morning to find it hanging between my sofas, shining in the rising sun’s light. As beautiful as it was, the location wasn’t ideal, for many of the threads holding the spiderweb were on my favourite blanket and the web itself was in the middle of an area I walked through a lot. The spider had spun this masterpiece overnight! After admiring it with love and appreciation for such an unexpected gift, instead of destroying it, I explained this predicament to the spider from my heart and asked that s/he please move it somewhere that wouldn’t be in the way…

A few hours later when I returned to the living room, I noticed the spider web was gone… and I found it instead, perfect and beautiful, safely behind the sofa! I thanked the spider with joy.

It’s a beautiful example of co-existence in a way that benefitted both of us (I provided it with a safe haven and it ate insects like house flies).

Most people I know would have immediately torn down the web and many would have squished the spider…

Living in a world with more peace and love begins with each one of us and how we choose to live and react to situations in everyday moments… choose love… ♥
