15 ways you can celebrate “Earth Day” (April 22nd & EVERY day!)…

My deepest love and appreciation goes out to Mother Earth on today’s “Earth Day” and every day, for all that she provides for us – as well as to all of you who make conscious choices to make a beneficial difference!

While I personally celebrate and honour Mother Earth and Nature every day, the “official” Earth Day is today, April 22nd.

If you’d like ideas to celebrate Earth Day today and any day, I created a list of ways that you can do so. It might even inspire your own idea(s).

Some are simple and others a little more elaborate. They’re all children-friendly so they can fully participate also – our future stewards of this world!

  • Plant a tree or shrub, especially of a species native to your area – so many will benefit from this, for trees and shrubs are entire ecosystems of their own!

  • Add a bird bath to your yard. All animals (including insects like dragonflies and bees) appreciate water, especially on hotter days. Shallow dishes or stones placed in the water to provide footholds above the water level are wonderful for smaller animals. You just NEVER know who might come for a refreshing drink or bath – I’ve had birds of all sorts, chipmunks, squirrels, a raccoon and deer! (See my photo at the end of this list of a beautiful red-tailed hawk who enjoyed my birdbath on 08-08-2012!)

  • Plant wildflowers – species native to your local natural environment. Each species is not only wonderful for pollinators, but is also a host plant for at least one of your local butterfly species, providing food for their caterpillars (i.e. monarch butterflies require milkweed for their caterpillars to survive, so planting milkweed supports their population growth).

  • Make a list of different ways that your home and lifestyle can be that much more eco-conscious/friendly and implement those things (i.e. minimizing or eliminating toxic household and body products; reusing, reducing and recycling “stuff”; choosing to support service and product providers who match your “greener” values, etc.).

  • Build a small house for native birds or bats from an easy-to-assemble kit. These houses provide invaluable shelter and nesting places (especially where there’s a lot of natural habitat loss), for little winged beings who love to eat insects like mosquitoes!

  • Have a picnic outdoors and express your appreciation for the life-giving air, sunshine, soil, water and foods, as well as your body, environment and the sky.

  • Get together with family and friends and hike a Nature trail or walk in a park or on a beach, and bring along a bag or two, to pick up litter if you see any – watch the sunset together.

  • Wear clothing with colours or patterns or images that represent the Earth and/or Nature to you as a way to honour that official day.

  • Dedicate your meals to Earth Day: choose fresh, organic/non-GMO or locally grown foods that have less packaging and greater nutritional value, for being produced with awareness.

  • Purchase reusable bags to keep in your car, office, handbag/backpack, briefcase, etc. (they come in so many styles and colours and are inexpensive), to minimize your use of plastic bags every day.

  • Spend quiet, quality time with Nature and radiate your love, joy, reverence and appreciation energy into the environment, then envision it circling the entire planet in a big heart hug.

  • Create a personal ceremony or celebration, alone or with a group, to express your wholehearted gratitude, love and appreciation for Mother Earth and all Nature from your heart.

  • Do a barefoot walk in your yard, on your property, on a beach or other familiar place and envision that each footstep is a love-kiss for Mother Earth and our natural world (every city, despite the absence of natural environment in many areas, is still supported by our precious planet underneath it).

  • Lie down on the natural ground for a while, in your yard or other place you love, and simply feel the divine energy emanating from Mother Earth to your body and heart, and send your own love down to hers – so vast with diverse ecosystems and infinite beauty.

  • Simply take a moment in your day to be still in your heart and express loving appreciation to Mother Earth for ALL that she provides for you, to support your life here as you know it, as well as to all the Elementals (Nature guardians and co-creators) who work diligently on behalf of all environments and their inhabitants.

Every conscious choice you make to benefit your life and beyond (i.e. choosing products and services that support sustainable practices and countless lives, that align with your sacred values, that have far-reaching benefits for many generations to come, etc.) matters beyond what you’ll ever know.

Each one of us can make a big difference every day, with every choice, as part of the greater whole.

Thank you for being a beneficial force of change!

I wish you a beautiful Earth Day – today and every day!…

If you enjoyed this post and know others who might benefit from it, feel free to share!

With great love and wonder-filled spirit,
